Three witches meet Macbeth and Banquo, victorious commanders of the Scottish army, as they journey home. The witches' strange and fantastic prophecies incite Macbeth, encouraged by his ambitious wife, to murder the King.
Driven, yet tormented by the witches' words, Macbeth continues to murder his way to the throne, trusting in the supernatural.
This dark and fascinating play remains one of Shakespeare's most popular.
