It’s 1961 and a Yorkshire family are scraping by on a miner’s wage of 7 a week. Then the unimaginable happens. They win a fortune on the pools (153,000 the equivalent to 3,000,000 today.) Life for the Nicholson’s is about to change and in the words of Viv herself, she is going to “ spend, spend, spend”.

This fabulous award-winning musical bombards the audience with a dazzling mixture of exuberance, despair, triumph and tragedy. Soaring from rags to riches and plummeting back to rags, Viv’s mission takes her through five husbands, fast cars, bankruptcy and booze. She did indeed wake up spent!
