Part 1 - Fernande, Eva, Gaby and Olga

Stage2 presents Picasso's Women by Brian McAvera Fernande, Eva, Gaby, Olga There were numerous women in Picasso's life, but these 8 were central...

Part 1

"Oh you took and you took and you took Pablo, but your only gift was the
promise of an eternal life... in a painting."
Fernade Olivier was Picasso's mistress throughout the Blue and Rose periods.

"He lives to a ripe old age and I am struck down in my prime. Is it fair?
Pablo stared at my grave, then warmed himself with Gaby Lespinasse."
Apparently the great love of Picasso's life, Eva Gouel was the only one never painted just 'hidden away and savoured.'

"What do I resent? Just one thing. That people know me as Pablo's one time mistress, not as Herbert's wife."

Unfortunately for Gaby Lespinasse, the majority of people do not even know her for that.

"I was unhinged. I was baggage and bones. I was like one of Pablo's paintings, re-arranged, stripped and framed, a carcass pinned to the wall." opposed to the stable woman Olga Kokhlova was before her combustible relationship with the artist.
