Interesting blog - I Googled 'casting' and found quotations from people who don't say it's 50% or even 75% but 90% of the director's job so if you feel under pressure trying to get a part, spare a thought for the poor director under pressure to try and fill it!

But I would say to anyone interested in auditioning for The Crescent, don't get the impression it's a closed shop - there is nothing more exciting for a director than finding that hot new talent no-one has seen yet. We also take seriously our responsibility to provide access to theatre-making so if you think amateur theatre is too white or too male or too middle-aged or too middle-class or too anything else then come along and change it.

It's also worth noting that the theatre building is fully accessible so if you use a wheelchair you can get everywhere and do anything from acting through stage management to directing.
