The Crescent Theatre’s 2008-09 season finishes this Sunday with the final show of The Taming of the Shrew at Harvington Hall, so attentions are turning towards next year – not least in terms of Marketing. In this respect – and always a hotly-debated issue – the artwork for the forthcoming shows is starting to emerge, and the designs will be presented here over the next few days, starting with the pic for The Vortex…

October seems like a lifetime away.
Crisp autumnal nights and the onset of winter are the last thing we are all thinking about at the moment, as we head off on our summer holidays looking for the sun block and making the annual hunt for passport.
So yesterday as the cast met for the first time for Juno and the Paycock, we were struck by how much had to be done at the first read through of Sean O’Casey’s brilliantly funny but ultimately tragic play.
I always think of The Lord of the Rings at this point in rehearsals when King Théoden of Rohan looks at the hordes of Orcs and other creatures of middle earth about to attack and he says solemly ‘and so it begins…’
Unlike poor old King Théoden, I am dead excited about the journey if front of us…and so it begins…bring it on!
As the prison season draws to a close, I would like to make one last request for anyone who hasn’t yet seen either Kiss of the Spiderwoman or IRON, to book your tickets now.
Kiss is on tonight, Thursday 9th July and Saturday 11th July both performances commencing at 7.45pm. IRON is on Friday 10th July at 7.45pm and on Saturday afternoon at 2.45pm. This is your last chance to see two very different but equally compelling productions.
Continuing a recent spate of highly-rated reviews, our current touring production The Taming of the Shrew has received five stars in today’s Birmingham Mail…

As the review concludes, the show finishes its residency at Birmingham’s Botanical Gardens tonight, then moves to Castle Bromwich Hall Gardens on Saturday, and, in a new destination for the tour, to St. Nicolas Place next Tuesday and Wednesday.
