Crescent Audio Description Service

Audio description is a service provided for visually impaired theatre-goers (VIPS).

A team of describers relay via a headset a description of the visual elements of a production.  This will include descriptions of the set, costumes and, when appropriate, descriptions of actions or effects particularly relevant to the story/production.

In September 1999 the Crescent Theatre proudly launched the first audio description service in Birmingham.  If you know someone who is visually impaired, please tell them about this service.

Performances which are audio described are indicated by a symbol in the schedules.
