Film Noir meets the Musical!
There's breaking the fourth wall and then there's City of Angels. The show is two musicals in one - the hard-boiled detective story of Stone, a 1940s, streetwise private dick; and the story of Stine, his rather more naive novelist/creator, who is adapting one of his Stone novels for the screen.
As real life and ‘reel-life’ collide on a number of levels, the people around Stine blur into his characters on the big screen.
Winner of six Tony awards in 1989, including best musical, score, and book, City of Angels allowed composer Cy Coleman (Sweet Charity, Barnum) to draw on his jazz background to create the first full-blown jazz score for the Broadway stage.
By arrangement with MusicScope and Stage Musicals Limited of New York
Tickets: £8 | £5.50 concessions | £3 NUS (ID Required)
