Self-made millionaire Jay Gatsby’s destructive passion for Daisy Buchanan is played out against the background of Long Island society. Viewed through the eyes of outsider Nick Carraway, Gatsby’s life is the story of a generation – glitz and glamour turning sour and the high-life turning to ashes.
Stephen Sharkey’s adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel brilliantly evokes the world of breath-taking glamour and decadent excess that was America’s ‘Jazz Age’, the ‘Roaring Twenties’.
