‘Pomegranates’ is a loose contemporary adaptation of Persephone’s myth, exploring a co-dependant relationship that faces the threat of being uprooted.

A mother and daughter have grown accustomed to the rural normalcy and comfortable pattern of their lives. Their small, secluded world and the confines of their relationship is all they’ve ever known:

Soil, dig, plant, grow.

But when a new figure enters the daughter’s life, it throws into question the reality of everything she has been brought up to believe, and tests just how deeply the roots of an unrelenting mother go.
