Experimental Opera based on Sławomir Mrożek’s absurdist play “Out at Sea”. Three men starving on a life raft employ a hilariously logical application of democratic and other bureaucratic procedures to determine which of them is to become dinner for the other two.

The music and libretto of Out at Sea is written by a bright composer Blanka Barbara Stachelek.

The opera is Co-Produced by Ignatius Sokol and Co-Directed by James Oldham. Daniel Galbreath leads the role of Musical Director and is in charge of vocal coaching. The cast, supported by an ensemble of 11 inspired musicians, consists of Alison Gormley, James Gribble, Grzegorz Hardej, Lucy Morton and Andrew Wilson.

This international project gathers the most creative people in Birmingham, who want to talk about burning issues in contemporary society, presenting them in a modern opera context.
