The Crescent Youth Theatre Company is for young people between the ages of 14 to 18 that have a passion for theatre arts. It is for young actors to develop their skills in performance, learn new techniques and work with other young people that have an enthusiasm for acting.
Our season is made up of both workshops and production projects, encouraging the young actors to explore acting techniques through performance, but also explore new techniques such as voice skills, physical theatre, devising and approaching scripts, to name but a few.
The CYT is lucky to be based within The Crescent Theatre where they can work (and learn) alongside the different departments of a working theatre.
Building upon the success of 2013’s production of Blood Brothers, 2014’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream (William Shakespeare), and 2015’s Alice (Laura Wade) the CYT recently performed a double bill of Red Helicopter (Robin French) and DNA (Dennis Kelly) to much acclaim. They also take part in a summer showcase that is a wonderful evening showcasing the talents of our talented young performers.
The young company is going from strength to strength so watch this space for more news on our plans for the 2016/17 season.
