The Crescent Theatre particularly welcomes visitors, members and performers with disabilities and accessibility was a major consideration in the design of the building. If you require any special assistance, please contact our Box Office in advance to ensure that we can offer you the support you need.
Accessibility for Audience Members
The Main House is equipped with an infra red sound transmission system and headsets are available from the Duty Manager. Plot synopses and running times for Crescent Theatre productions are available from one week prior to the first performance of each production.
Please ensure that you call ahead to inform us if you are a wheelchair user or have any specific accessibility requirements so that we can prepare for your visit.

Wheelchair Users and Patrons with Limited Mobility
The Crescent is a fully accessible building. There is lift access to all public floors, and step-free access to selected seating in all performance spaces. Our Main House has dedicated wheelchair positions and The Ron Barber Studio can accommodate wheelchairs in every layout.
Please contact the Box Office to ensure that you are booked into appropriate seating.
Accessible Toilet
We have an accessible toilet in the building foyer, which is on the ground floor and accessible by lift from all public areas.
Assistance Dogs
Assistance dogs are welcome at The Crescent and we can supply water if required. Please contact the Box Office for assistance in selecting the most appropriate seats for you and your assistance dog.
Due to the nature of some of the events at The Crescent, there may be loud noises, gunshots, smoke, haze, strobe and other effects that may distress your assistance dog. We are happy to care for your dog away from the performance after you are seated. Please let us know in advance.
Babies and Children
Buggies and pushchairs can be collapsed and stored at your own risk in the bar. Please speak to the Duty Manager.
Baby changing facilities are located in the accessible toilet in the foyer.
Hearing Assistance
Our Main House offers a selection of seats where you can plug in your own headset. Please contact our Box Office for assistance in booking these seats.
The Ron Barber Studio offers a hearing loop. Please speak to the Box Office or Duty Manager on arrival for assistance.
Relaxed Performances
Some of the events at The Crescent offer relaxed performances. This is not possible for every event and details of relaxed performances are available in the show listings in our What’s On section. Please note that relaxed performances can only be booked by calling the Box Office or visiting us in person. See below for more information.
Parking and Dropping Off
The adjacent car park has 12 disabled parking spaces. Alternatively, customers can be dropped off at the front entrance on Sheepcote Street.
Relaxed Performances
What is a Relaxed Performance?
A relaxed performance is intended to be sensitive to audience members who may benefit from a more relaxed performance experience. This could include audience members with learning or physical disabilities, autistic spectrum condition or sensory/communication disorders. The sound and lighting affects will be amended for these productions in order to provide a less intense experience for audience members.
Can I use a phone or electronic device?
Phones should only be used in an emergency and the taking of photographs or sound or video recording is not permitted.
How do I book for a Relaxed Performance?
Relaxed Performances can only be booked by phone or in person and the box office, they cannot be booked online.
Can anyone attend a Relaxed Performance?
Yes, but audience members booking for a Relaxed Performance must be aware that it is a different to the usual performances in the show run. Parents are welcome to bring small children and families should feel welcome to bring relatives or friends living with dementia.
What is different about a Relaxed Performance?
In a Relaxed Performance the presentation of the production can sometimes include adapted sound and lighting and minor adjustments to the script. House lights may be raised to reduce and stresses of a dark auditorium. Audience members are allowed to walk in and out of the auditorium during the performance.
Are wheelchair users welcome?
Yes, but we have limited spaces for wheelchairs. Please call the Box Office ahead of your visit to check availability.
Accessibility for Performers
The Main House stage and its dressing rooms are on the same level, as are the Ron Barber Studio stage and dressing room. There is step-free or lift access to all of these areas.
