The Crescent Youth Theatre Company is for young people between the ages of 11 to 18 that have a passion for theatre arts. It is for young actors to develop their skills in performance, learn new techniques and work with other young people that have an enthusiasm for acting.
Our season is made up of both workshops and production projects, encouraging the young actors to explore acting techniques through performance, but also explore new techniques such as voice skills, physical theatre, devising and approaching scripts, to name but a few.
The CYT is lucky to be based within The Crescent Theatre where they can work (and learn) alongside the different departments of a working theatre.
The past five years have produced several successful productions that include: A Midsummer Night’s Dream (William Shakespeare), Alice (Laura Wade), DNA (Dennis Kelly), and Blue Stockings (Jessica Swale). Most recently the group performed Timberlake Wertenbaker’s Our Country’s Good to much acclaim. The young actors also take part in a summer performance evening that is a wonderful production of monologues, scenes and music showcasing the talents of our gifted young performers.
The young company is going from strength to strength so watch this space for more news on our plans for the 2018/19 season.
