It’s 1959, and a two-bed house is for sale in Chicago’s white suburb of Clybourne Park. When a black family buys it, tensions start to rise amongst the neighbours.
Fast-forward 50 years. In 2009, the same house - in a now predominantly black neighbourhood - is bought by a young white couple. Once again, the residents of Clybourne Park aren’t happy.
Examining race and ownership, Clybourne Park is a “troublingly funny” portrayal of conflict.
