A Christmas Carol

By Charles Dickens

11th – 19th December 2026

‘I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year.’

Dickens’ timeless masterpiece returns to the Crescent at Christmas.

Whilst Christmas cheer and goodwill abound across Victorian England, tight-fisted Ebenezer Scrooge goes to bed on Christmas Eve with no compassion or love in his heart. However, that night he is visited by the ghost of his old business partner Jacob Marley. Bound in chains for a lifetime of greed, Marley warns Scrooge it isn’t too late to change his fate, but only if he survives three more ghostly encounters…

This heart-warming tale of redemption is the perfect festive treat.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein

By Rona Munro

21st – 28th March 2026

“When I placed my head on my pillow, I did not sleep, nor could I be said to think… I saw—with shut eyes, but acute mental vision, —I saw the pale student of unhallowed arts kneeling beside the thing he had put together. I saw the hideous phantasm of a man stretched out, and then, on the working of some powerful engine, show signs of life, and stir with an uneasy, half vital motion. …”

An eighteen-year-old girl, Mary Shelley, dreams up a monster whose tragic story will capture the imaginations of generations to come.

A young scientist by the name of Frankenstein breathes life into a gruesome body. Banished into an indifferent world, Frankenstein’s creature desperately seeks out his true identity, but the agony of rejection and a broken promise push him into darkness. Dangerous and vengeful, the creature threatens to obliterate Frankenstein and everyone he loves, in a ferocious and bloodthirsty hunt for his maker.

Please note: this performance is at our sister venue The Old Rep.
