Visiting

The Crescent is located on the edge of Brindleyplace in Birmingham City Centre

Please note that we have no cloakroom facilities, so we request that all patrons avoid bringing large items, as these are not permitted inside the auditorium and must be left outside the auditorium at the owner’s risk.

By Bicycle

The Crescent is easily accessible by bicycle from the city centre and from further afield. There are bike racks in front of the main entrance.

Located on the Birmingham Canal Old Line, The Crescent is easily reached by bicycle along the towpath. There are steps from the canal connected to the building. For step free access, use the lift located between the Sea Life Centre and Brindleyplace.

By Car

When arriving by car, please use postcode B1 2JF to arrive at the QPark car park in Brindleyplace. The Theatre is located adjacent to the car park. Turn right as you exit the car park on foot and you will see the Theatre.

By Public Transport

Bus

There is a bus stop right outside the building on Sheepcote Street, and it’s called Crescent Theatre, the 126 stops here. Other buses stop nearby on Broad Street are: 9, 10, 12, 12A, 13, 13A, 23, 24, 126, X8, X10. For details and journey planning, please visit Network West Midlands

Tram

The closest tram stop is Brindleyplace, which is an easy 4 minute walk from the theatre. Trams run into the city centre with stops at Birmingham New Street Station (Grand Central) and Birmingham Snow Hill (Bull Street). For details and journey planning, please visit Network West Midlands

Train

Birmingham New Street station is approximately 20 minutes away on foot. A taxi will take around 10 minutes. The journey from Birmingham New Street using public transport takes around 15 minutes.

Wheelchair Users and Patrons with Limited Mobility

The Crescent is a fully accessible building. There is lift access to all public floors, and step-free access to selected seating in all performance spaces. Our Main House has dedicated wheelchair positions and The Ron Barber Studio can accommodate wheelchairs in every layout.

Please contact the Box Office to ensure that you are booked into appropriate seating.

Accessible Toilet

We have an accessible toilet in the building foyer, which is on the ground floor and accessible by lift from all public areas.

Hearing Assistance

Our Main House offers a selection of seats where you can plug in your own headset. Please contact our Box Office for assistance in booking these seats.

The Ron Barber Studio offers a hearing loop. Please speak to the Box Office or Duty Manager on arrival for assistance.

Assistance Dogs

Assistance dogs are welcome at The Crescent and we can supply water as required. Please contact the Box Office for assistance in selecting the most appropriate seats for you and your assistance dog.

Due to the nature of some of the events at The Crescent, there may be loud noises, gunshots, smoke, haze, strobe and other effects that may distress your assistance dog. We are happy to care for your dog after you are seated. Please let us know in advance.

Babies and Children

Buggies and pushchairs can be collapsed and stored at your own risk in the bar. Please speak to the Duty Manager or Bar Staff.

Baby changing facilities are located in the accessible toilet in the foyer.

Babes in arms (children under 18 months unless otherwise stated at the time of booking) will only be admitted to performances that are specifically aimed for them. Where babes in arms are permitted they shall be admitted free of charge to sit on an adults lap; they will not be allocated their own seat.

Relaxed Performances

Some of the events at The Crescent offer relaxed performances. This is not possible for every event and details of relaxed performances are available in the show listings in our What’s On section. Please note that relaxed performances can only be booked by calling the Box Office or visiting us in person.

Where can I view your seating plan?

Different events have different seating plans. To view the seating plan for the event you are interested in, please visit the booking page of the event. Please note that events in the Ron Barber Studio, Underground and Bar are normally unreserved and the flexible layout of the spaces means that no seating plan is available for these venues

I should have received my e-tickets via email but I cannot see them in my inbox. What can I do?

Please check your junk or spam folder for your tickets, as tickets can sometime end up in there. Tickets are sent from the email address boxoffice@crescent-theatre.co.uk and will have the subject heading of “Crescent Theatre – Print at Home Ticket”. If you can’t find them don’t worry – we are happy to resend or arrange for tickets to be available to collect at the box office. To request this please contact us.

You can access e-tickets at any time by logging into your account.

Do you have a car park?

The Crescent Theatre does not have its own car park although we can recommend Q-Park Brindleyplace, which is a multi-storey located in the heart of Brindleyplace in Brunswick St, Birmingham B1 2JF.

What time should I arrive?

The theatre’s main doors usually open 45 mins before the start of a performance. The doors to the auditorium usually open 15 minutes before.

What can I do if I lose an item during my visit at The Crescent?

Personal items found in the theatre are stored safely for 3 weeks.

Do you offer work experience?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer work experience, however you can gain extensive experience in all aspects of working in theatre by joining The Crescent as a member and working on our shows. You can also gain experience of working behind a bar and of stewarding as part of your membership. Membership details can be found here.

How old do you have to be to become a member?

Membership of the adult company is open to anyone aged 18 or older. People under the age of 18 can consider joining the Crescent Youth Theatre.

Are your shows professional?

A range of events are staged at The Crescent, some of which are produced by professional companies, and others are amateur. The Crescent Theatre produces around 12 of our own shows per year. All Crescent productions are amateur and nobody is paid for their involvement. Many of the audience are surprised to learn that our shows are amateur productions, but as one of the largest amateur theatres in the UK, we produce shows of a very high standard. Anyone can join as a member of The Crescent and take part in our productions either as a performer or backstage in one of the many departments that make the shows happen. Performers are required to audition for every show they wish to be cast in. Backstage teams are open to all. For more details about membership, please visit our membership page.
